The Training Journey – First-Time Finishers and Personal Bests
Every runner on the Cowtown Half Marathon Gold Star Race Program team has a story, and their training journeys are as unique as the reasons they run. Some are conquering their very first half marathon, pushing their limits to achieve something they once thought impossible. Others are seasoned runners, challenging themselves to set new personal bests while carrying the names and memories of their loved ones every step of the way.
The months leading up to race day have been filled with early morning runs, long miles, and countless moments of perseverance. These athletes have battled through setbacks, celebrated milestones, and drawn strength from the mission of wear blue. Through it all, they are reminded that they do not run alone—their training partners, mentors, and the entire wear blue community stand behind them, supporting their journey. As race day approaches, the excitement builds, knowing that every ounce of effort put into training will culminate in an unforgettable weekend of remembrance and achievement.

Meet Daniel
Daniel is running in honor of his son, Kaj, alongside his wife, Katie Crumby. Kaj's sense of humor and magnetic personality made him the life of every gathering. People were naturally drawn to his wit and charm, and he had a special ability to lift spirits with just a smile or a joke. His quick-thinking mind and passion for life were truly admirable.
Kaj chose to serve as a paratrooper in the United States Army driven by a desire to challenge himself, the opportunity to be part of an elite team, and a deep commitment to serving his country in a meaningful way.
For Daniel, the Gold Star Race Program offers a unique opportunity to honor Kaj's memory while connecting with other families who have shared in this unimaginable loss. Kaj's legacy of love, laughter, and strength will never be forgotten, and through this race, his spirit continues to inspire and guide his family.

Meet Katie

Kaj, a natural leader and dedicated team player, served in the Army after deciding to enlist instead of attending college ROTC. Known for his humor, positivity, and deep faith, Kaj excelled in sports and was drawn to airborne school, following in his parents' footsteps. His heart and commitment to service left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Katie cherishes the bond she shared with Kaj, especially their time together playing fantasy football. Every step she takes in the race is a tribute to Kaj’s strength, character, and the incredible impact he had on her life.
